Orthodontics

We offer a wide range of orthodontic treatments, for both adults and children. If you have any queries regarding the details of our range of treatments, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Traditional braces

Traditional braces are made up of brackets and an arch wire that work together to straighten your teeth over a series of months. They can be applied to children and adults and typically take around 18 months, though this depends on the case.

The process

Initially, you must express your concerns regarding the positioning of your teeth to your dentist, if they haven’t expressed concerns already. Your dentist will then refer you to an orthodontist. The first orthodontic appointment will involve a full dental examination which may involve taking an X-ray of your teeth.

Based on the results of this examination, your orthodontist will determine whether braces are right for you, and if so, what kind of braces you will need. They’ll also estimate the  length of the treatment, which can vary depending on the patient.

Before administering your braces, your teeth will be polished, conditioned, air dried and primed. A cheek retractor will be placed around your teeth to ensure that they are visible and dry throughout the process.

A bracket will be placed in a predetermined position on each of your teeth, fixed on using dental cement. Any excess will be cleaned away and the bond will be strengthened by high intensity light. Once each bracket has been placed, the retractor will be removed and the dental arch wires can be put into place. The whole process can take as little as 20 minutes and though you may feel a little discomfort for a few hours afterwards, the application itself is not painful.

You will need to attend the orthodontist regularly to replace the bands on your brackets and so that your orthodontist can make any necessary adjustments to your wires.

The benefits

Invisalign aligners can of course straighten your teeth much more quickly than traditional braces, taking around 6 months. Traditional braces in comparison can take around three times as long, at 18 months or more.

Nobody has to know you’re straightening your teeth if you don’t want them to. The clear aligners allow for complete discretion.
Your aligners are removable. This means that you can enjoy eating and drinking without your braces getting in the way, you can maintain your oral health more easily, and, for those who play contact sports, you can wear a mouthguard during a game to protect your teeth.

Invisalign® The Clear Alternative to Braces®

With Invisalign clear aligners, you can have the straight smile you’ve always wanted in as little as 6 months, while remaining completely discreet. Invisalign treatment has become one of the most popular and subtle clear brace treatments in the world and we’re very proud to offer it to our patients.

The Process

Your initial consultation will involve a dental assessment during which time your dentist will take a scan of your mouth. They will then use this scan to plan your treatment and predict what your future smile will look like. If you’re happy with the predicted results, they will then create a set of bespoke, almost invisible clear aligners that will perfectly fit into and around your teeth.

Your Invisalign braces will be custom-made to move your teeth little by little, subtly transforming your smile.
